Hyro Named as Gartner® Cool Vendor™ 2022 in Conversational and Natural Language Technology

NEW YORK, New York, May 24th, 2022 – Hyro, a leader in plug-and-play conversational AI technologies, announced today that it has been named a 2022 Cool Vendor™ by Gartner, Inc. The 2022 report titled “Cool Vendors in Conversational and Natural Language Technology” evaluates the most innovative and impactful vendors, products and services providing natural language and conversational AI solutions, including virtual assistants, voice AI and chatbots.

Since raising their Series A from investors such as Twilio Inc. in 2021, Hyro has captured a strong share of the enterprise market in both healthcare and real estate with an emphasis on adaptive conversational experiences, onboarding new clients such as Mercy Health, University of Rochester Medical Center, CARROLL and Western Wealth. Rather than building out conversational flows, Hyro remains one of the only leaders in the conversational AI space to choose language-based modalities in favor of a traditional intent-based architecture. While intent-based solutions have been widely adopted, Hyro believes that eventually the market will shift to intent-less models as antiquated virtual assistants continue to underperform. Gartner® Cool Vendor™ 2022 is a major step forward towards realizing that vision.

“We consider our inclusion in the Gartner® Cool Vendor™ 2022 report as yet another strong validation of our unique approach in simplifying the deployment, maintenance and performance of conversational AI,” said Israel Krush, CEO and Co-founder of Hyro. “Virtual assistants based on an inherently flawed intent-based architecture will soon become obsolete, as they are too slow to launch and an absolute pain to maintain. Adaptive Communications is being recognized as a fresh answer to this quality gap in the market, well-positioned to shake up the status quo.”

Since its inception, Hyro is the only non-intent-based conversational AI company to be honored as a Gartner® Cool Vendor™ in the field of Conversational and Natural Language Technology. According to Gartner’s report, available for Gartner subscribers to download, Hyro is well-fit for enterprises who prioritize speed of deployment and scalability, and for those concentrated on automating repetitive tasks with a high success rate.

For Novant Health, one of Hyro’s customers, that success rate climbed to 85% in 2021 surrounding a spike in inbound patient inquiries. “You need to have really robust knowledge. For you to say that you’ve got chat enabled, and it’s a poor experience, really isn’t worth checking that box because it’s actually more frustrating”, said Amber Fencl, Senior Vice President Digital Health & Engagement at Novant Health. “And so that means looking for technologies like Hyro. Their robust knowledge graph is continuously learning and has different ways to fill the knowledge base with information. The days of chatbots that are more workflow based, I think, are narrowing–they served their purpose for very small use cases, but they can’t grow with you.”

Hyro, which enables conversational AI interfaces and advanced analytics across websites, call centers, SMS and mobile apps, has a unique approach to developing what the company calls Adaptive Communications. As opposed to rigid intent-based chatbots and IVRs which need thousands of examples (conversations and utterances) to generate a simple response, Hyro’s platform is both linguistics and knowledge-based, meaning that their conversational AI learns human language first and then continuously layers use cases on top of that understanding engine. As data is added or adjusted across websites, databases, CSVs, APIs and other sources, Hyro automatically updates their knowledge graph so that the information provided to end-users remains accurate. That’s key for fast deployment, easy maintenance and enterprise-wide scalability.

“We congratulate Hyro on being named a 2022 Cool Vendor by Gartner,” commented David Perez, Chief Operating Officer at CARROLL. “We have been closely working with Hyro for 12 months to automate lead generation and qualification as part of our overall leasing management strategy for our call center. With Hyro, we’ve been able to streamline over 40% of all tours booked for our properties through AI interfaces, saving our agents meaningful hours while meeting renters’ needs in a highly efficient manner.”
